THE SUSSEX YEOMANRY

Welcome to the official website of the Sussex Yeomanry Association. We are dedicated to preserving the history and camaraderie of the Sussex and Surrey Yeomanry, supporting former members, and maintaining the Associations proud legacy.

Founded in 1794 in response to the threat of a French invasion during the Napoleonic Wars, it was reformed during the Second Boer War and served in both World War I and World War II, participating in the East African Campaign and the Siege of Tobruk. 

With a proud and long history of dedication, loyalty, and service to the country, the Sussex Yeomanry provides its members with a community of fellowship and support. 

Today, its legacy is carried on by 1 (Sussex Yeomanry) Field Troop, 579 Field Squadron (EOD), which is part of 101 (London) Engineer Regiment (Explosive Ordnance Disposal) (Volunteers).
